Welcome to CalmBud ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and parents who use our mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information within the CalmBud app.

CalmBud is designed for children. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Personal Information

We do not collect, store, or share any personal identifiable information (PII) on our servers.

  • No Account Required: You do not need to create an account to use CalmBud.
  • Local Storage: All data entered into the app (such as the child's name, mood history, journal entries, and stickers) is stored locally on your device using your device's internal storage. We do not have access to this data.

Non-Personal Information

We do not collect usage analytics or tracking data.

3. How We Use Data

In-App Features

The data you enter is used solely to provide the app's functionality:

  • Name: To personalize the greeting (e.g., "Good morning, [Name]").
  • Moods & Thoughts: To display your history in the calendar and Parent Dashboard.
  • Stickers: To track your rewards progress.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features

CalmBud uses Google's Gemini AI to generate:

  • Daily Affirmations
  • Fun Facts
  • Thought Detective analysis
  • Parent Dashboard insights

How it works:

  • When you use these features, anonymous text prompts are sent to Google's API to generate the content.
  • We do not send personal identifiers (like your name) to the AI service.
  • The text sent to the AI is transient and is not used by Google to train their models (based on their enterprise data usage policies).

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent any user data to third parties.

No Advertising

CalmBud is completely free of advertisements.

No Third-Party Tracking

We do not use third-party analytics tools inside the app.

5. Parental Controls

CalmBud includes a Parent Gate. This dashboard allows parents/guardians to:

  • View their child's mood history and thought logs.
  • Export data as a PDF to share with healthcare providers (this action is manually triggered by you).
  • Reset all app data.

6. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data relies on the security of your device. We recommend keeping your device updated and using a device passcode.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
